Many monuments stand between Anielewicza Street and Stawki Street: after the ghetto uprising monument at a site of confrontation with the Nazis, the heroes of the ghetto monument is of polished stone. On this street, 15 stone blocks honour prominent ghetto residents. Further up, past the Szmul Zygielbojm monument, a mound erected in 1946 shows the height of the rubble in the ghetto (commemorative stone and obelisk). Finally, the Umschlagplatz monument marks the “embarcation point” from where 300 000 Jews were transported to Treblinka.
