St. John's cathedral is the oldest church in the Polish capital. Built at the start of the 15th C., on the remains of an old wooden church, it was altered several times before being razed to the ground during the Second World War. After work undertaken to rebuild it, it has today regained its gothic appearance of yesteryear. Like its "sister" in Reims, this was the place of many coronations, including those of the country's last kings.
