Warsaw National Museum Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Bibendum
During your walk along the Royal Way, stop for a while at the National Museum. This in fact houses many artistic treasures, starting with a sumptuous collection of Polish sculptures dating from the Middle Ages (in particular some incredibly beautiful altarpieces). Polish mediaeval art, the Museum's strong point, is also represented by religious paintings from those times. On higher floors, painting is again given place of honour, with Polish masterpieces from the 16th century through to the present time, such as the Battle of Grunwald by Jan Matejko, as well as many foreign items coming from the Flemish, Dutch, French, Italian and German schools. Antique art is not forgotten, and the museum contains an excellent collection of Egyptian, Greek and Roman masterpieces. In addition, visitors will be glad to see the Faras gallery, containing splendid frescos discovered in the Coptic cathedral of Faras in Egypt by a team of Polish archaeologists, during construction of the Assouan dam. As well as these frescos, there is also a collection of Coptic crosses adding interest to the exhibition.
