Domus municipalis : Michelin's recommendations

Situated in the medieval town, this pentagonal building which dates from the 12C is Portugal's oldest town-hall. It has small windows with semicircular arches and under the roof you will notice a frieze of sculpted modillions. The large interior accommodates an old reservoir.

To my mind the rareness of this building makes it a must-see

The walk up to the Cidadela is savage - take the car route if you have problems.
