Built in the 15C by Mateus Fernandes (the architect of Batalha Monastery) on the wishes of Queen Leonor, the church is crowned with an elegant bell-tower whose Gothic windows are decorated in Manueline fashion. The inside walls are covered in their entirety with 17C azulejos. Note the fronts of the altars, covered in beautiful Moorish Azulejos, and the attractive triptych attributed to Cristoão de Figueiredo (early 16C) below a triumphal arch.
