This point, comprised of volcanic rocks in ochre, red and black, juts far out into the sea. Despite being weather-beaten by waves and wind, this is the only place on the island where you will find a sandy beach - Prainha beach - which is well protected at the foot of a hillock housing the hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Piedade For impressive views over the steep north coast of the island, you should head for the belvedere of Ponta do Resto.
