Evora Museum : Michelin's recommendations
This museum is set up in the former archbishop's palace (16 and 17C) The ground floor, dedicated to Roman, Medieval, Manueline and Portuguese-Moorish sculpture exhibits in particular a fragment of a marble bas-relief depicting the body of a vestal virgin whose face is missing, as well as an Annunciation from the 14C which is also in marble, and a Holy Trinity from the 16C in Anca stone. In addition to the architectural elements, you can admire the mullioned windows of the old town hall, and sculptures by Nicolas Chanterene. On the first floor, you can see Portuguese furniture and some interesting collections of paintings by the Primitives, including a polyptych from the early 16C from the Flemish school depicting the life of the Virgin in 13 large canvasses; there is also a 16C triptych of the Passion in Limoge enamel, and several 16C paintings by Portuguese artists Frei Carlos and Gregorio Lopez.
