The current university occupies the old Italian Renaissance style Jesuit university, which you must visit (16C). The buildings are arranged around the general studies cloister, a graceful courtyard surrounded by a gallery of arcades illustrating the Royal University and the Papal University. The classrooms which open onto the galleries are decorated with 18C azulejos depicting subjects relating to the disciplines taught.
