This is a small fortified town that occupies a remarkable site on the top of a high hill in the Alentejo. At Evoramonte on 26 May 1834, the Treaty that marked the end of the civil war was signed. When you reach Evoramonte, you will be immediately struck by the peace reigning there and by the charm of the well-kept low, white houses covered in flowers that surround the strange fortress.
