A well-appointed path skirts the summit (1800m) and leads to a belvedere from where you have a beautiful view over the whole valley of the Ribeira da Metade which opens out at the bottom of Faial, near the curious rocky peak of Penha da Aguia, and on São Lourenço point. Heading towards Faial, the road, flanked by pine and bay trees, the density of which shows the humidity in the north of the island, drops in hairpin bends.
