Like all the perimeter walls built before the reign of King Dinis, the high walls are distinguished by the lack of crenellations. The best preserved remains are those around the dos Ferreiros tower (blacksmith's tower), the 12 and 13C keep, and the doorways El-Rei and da Estrela.
