Idanha-a-Velha
: Michelin's recommendations
This town of 90 inhabitants was formerly a prosperous Roman town situated close to the route linking Mérida to Astorga. It is a real open air museum. You will see a tower built by the Templars in the 13C on the foundations of a Roman temple, a cathedral of paleo-Christian origin which was rebuilt five times but still preserves traces of all these rebuildings, a rebuilt Roman bridge from the Middle Ages and many other remains.
