Lagos : Michelin's recommendations
Although very touristy, Lagos has preserved a lot of charm and character with the fort, the walls and the old district. The town was the capital of the Algarve between 1576 and 1756 and is now a renowned spa resort with a large marina next to the bay and an important sailing centre where you can watch international competitions. The fishing port is sheltered by the promontory of Ponta da Piedade.
