Lamego : Michelin's recommendations

Lamego is a small pretty yet busy town known for its sparkling wine and smoked ham. Near the Douro valley, in a landscape of verdant hills covered in vines and maize fields, this small town has pretty private houses from the 16C and 18C. Two heights look down on it. The one to the east has the remains of a strong 12C castle and the other the Baroque sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios which is famous for its annual pilgrimage (end of August, beginning of September).
