From the foot of the staircase which leads to the sanctuary there is a pretty view over this Baroque ensemble. The facade of the church (18C) whose white rough-cast plasterwork makes the elegant granite curves stand out, dominates the cross-ramped staircase decorated with azulejos and punctuated with a multitude of pinnacles which is reminiscent of the one at Bom Jesus de Braga. From the church square the view extends over Lamego to the horizon dominated by the high hills on either side of the Douro valley.
