This immense building, completed in 1992, plays a prominent role in Lisbon's and Portugal's cultural life. It comprises a conference centre, two theatres, one for opera, and a huge exhibition centre. The centre puts on a varied programme of music, theatre and dance, as well as major modern and contemporary art, architecture and photographic exhibitions. The complex also has several bars, a restaurant and a cafeteria.
