In this museum, situated in the 19C wing of the monastery of the Hieronymites, pottery, weapons and jewellery relate Portugal's history from its origins to the end of the Roman era. Vestiges include items from the Megalithic era and the Iron Age. The Roman period is particularly well covered with, among others, a small bronze statue dating from the 1C, Fortune. The Treasury includes a rich collection of archaic goldwork, featuring bracelets, earrings, etc.
