Lined with small shops and popular taverns, these are Alfama's busiest streets! Rua de São Pedro is at its liveliest in the morning when its fish market is held. At the beginning of Rua dos Remédios, note on the left-hand side the Manueline door of the church of Espírito Santo, and a little further along, at no 2 Calçadinha de Santo Estêvão, another doorway from the same period.
