Machico : Michelin's recommendations

Situated at the entrance to the large and fertile valley of Ribeira de Machico, this town is comprised of a fishing district called Banda d'Além to the east of the river, and the old town to the west. You can visit the parish church and the Capela dos Milagros, a chapel of miracles which marks the site of the tomb of the two mythical lovers who are said to have been stranded here.
