Marvão : Michelin's recommendations

Situated at a height of 865m on one of the summits of the Serra São Mamede, Marvão is a fortified medieval town, a veritable eagle's nest perched atop a high granite outcrop. The access road that bypasses the peak to the north serves to emphasize the defensive value of this remarkable site. Very popular with tourists in summer, it offers exceptional views of mountain and plain.
