Montemor-o-Novo : Michelin's recommendations

The quiet town of Alentejo and agricultural market, Montemor-o-Novo is laid out at the foot of a hill that is crowned by the ruins of a fortified medieval town. The ramparts, which date back to the Roman period, are a belvedere over the countryside, dotted with olive trees. It is also the birth town of Saint John of God (1495-1550), a Franciscan monk who founded the Order of the Charitable Brothers. The 17C hospital has the same name.
