Óbidos : Michelin's recommendations
Dominating a vast and fertile valley landscape, its heights dotted with windmills, Obidos has despite its popularity with tourists preserved its medieval charm down the centuries. This fortified town once kept watch over the coast, protected by its perimeter wall, which was flanked by two round towers and huge square bastions. The blocking up of a former gulf isolated the town from the coastline, now some 17km away.
