In 1444, the young King Afonso V married his cousin Isabel then aged 18 here. The interior has its walls completely covered in blue 17C azulejos. Notice in a niche on the left a Renaissance tomb topped with a Pieta accompanied by female Saints and Nicodemus coming to hide the body of Christ.
