Penhas da Saúde : Michelin's recommendations

This is a winter sports resort, and a summer holiday spot. The area around the resort is uneven and, every now and again, you will find dammed or glacial lakes in the crevices. The road to Manteigas has beautiful landscapes where you will see in a shelter hollowed out of the rock, the statue of Nossa Senhora da Boa Estrela, whose Festival is celebrated every year in August. Just before the summit of Torre, a belvedere offers an interesting view over the dammed lake.
