Ribeiro Frio : Michelin's recommendations
Near a small bridge which straddles the Ribeiro Frio (cold river), a restaurant is hidden in the foliage, in a pleasant lofty site, 860m above sea-level. The slopes which dominate the river, rich in plant species, were named "Flora da Madeira" forest. The levada do Furado, which irrigates a section of these slopes as far as Porto da Cruz and Mechico, runs to Ribeiro Frio. You can follow it on foot in an easterly direction as far as the Portela pass or in a westerly direction as far as Balcões.
