The path which spans the Levada do Furado runs through corridors hollowed out of the basalt rock. It takes you to the Balcões belvedere, which is situated on the slopes of the Metade valley, which opens out on to the high mountain cirque. The view extends across the high valley, which starts from the side of the jagged peaks (Pico do Arieiro, Pico das Torres et Pico Ruivo) as far as the lush coastal valley, whose rounded hills are planted with rich crops.
