Tomar : Michelin's recommendations

On the banks of the River Nabão, Tomar lies at the foot of a wooded hill topped by a castle built by the Templars in the 12C, within whose walls is the Convent of Christ. This Unesco World Heritage site has played a significant part in Portugal’s history and that of Western Christendom. The peaceful old town of white houses and rectilinear streets is also worth exploring. Once every four years, a famous festival (the Festa dos Tabuleiros) takes place here.
