Built in the 12C in emulation of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, this two-storey rotunda structure is internally octagonal and supported on eight pillars; a vaulted ambulatory separates the inner core from a polygonal (sixteen-sided) exterior. The paintings decorating it are by 16C Portuguese artists; several wood statues date from the same period. Built by Diogo de Arruda between 1510 and 1515, the nave is remarkable for the exuberance of its Manueline decoration.
