This viewpoint is actually the hill of Santa Luzia which stands to the north of the town and is topped by a modern basilica (a place of pilgrimage). Accessed either by a 7min cable car journey which at 650m is the nation’s longest, or by car along a paved road which climbs between pine trees, eucalyptus and mimosa.
