The Museu Municipal is set in the 18C palace that used to belong to the Barbosa Maciel family. The interior walls are embellished with superb painted azulejos from 1721 and it boasts a remarkable collection of Portuguese ceramics – said to be the largest in Portugal. On the ground floor, you can see beautiful Indo-Portuguese sculpted or inlaid furnishings, ceramics and old Portuguese, Italian and Dutch earthenware.
