This small, solitary but pleasant town, animated by students, is situated in a landscape of bare hills and stretches across a long ridge the whose slopes are decorated with vines. This town has become famous following the discovery of Palaeolithic cave paintings, only a few kilometres away on the banks of the river Côa, in 1992.
