Its monumental bulk stands above the Ave. Behind the 18C facade, you will find some 14C buildings. Today the convent houses an infant school and only the church and the cloister can be visited. The church is of the fortress type and was founded in 1318. It has preserved its Gothic style and the interior has the Renaissance tombs of the founders, Dom Afonso Sanches andDona Teresa Martins, and their children.
