Since 1912 this lovely white neo-classical residence, a former bishopric’s seat, has housed the Léon Dierx Museum, with a bust of its namesake at the entrance. The endowment’s main treasures came from the gift of art dealer Amboise Vollard’s collection in 1947. Works of art from the 19C and 20C are exhibited in the building, entirely rebuilt except for the original façade. Reunion Island artists are well represented. Other artists whose work is on display include Picasso, Bourdelle, Jean Le Gac and Gilbert Clain.
