Rue de Paris begins at the war memorial and ends at the Jardin de l’État, extending from Avenue de la Victoire and crossing Saint-Denis in a north-south line. It is one of the main arteries of the town’s checkerboard plan, a legacy of the French presence in La Réunion, like the beautiful plush houses that line it. Note the fine carved pelmets and the front verandahs set in well-kept gardens, the Islanders' pride and joy. N° 15 is the birthplace of Léon Dierx (the museum is at n° 28), the Villa Repiquet is at n° 25, and the Artothèque at n° 26.
