Chapelle Pointue : Michelin's recommendations

To top off your trip to the Villèle Museum, don’t miss the Chapelle Pointue, standing on a hillside of eucalyptus trees on the other side of the road. It was built in 1841 as a place of worship for the Desbassyns family, its slaves and neighbours, and has been the repository for its tombstones since 1866. The building owes its name to the tall, elegant roof with a lovely dome. The recently restored chapel has regained its neo-Gothic decor, lost in the 1932 cyclone that nearly destroyed it entirely.
