From its time as voivod capital, Bucharest retains 17C Wallachian churches. The 20C saw neo-Classical building projects turn it into a “little Paris”, a golden age that ended with the Second World War. Ceaucescu’s era was one of concrete and urban desecration. While its architecture may not be seductive, its museums are a real delight.
