A fascinating insight into the architecture of rural Romania, this open-air village museum comprises of some 300 buildings (houses, barns, workshops, churches). They were rescued from around the country or are reconstructions using original methods and materials. Depending on the building’s region of origin, the walls of wood, cob or stone support roofs of thatch or tile. A tribute to the rusticity that inspired the research of the great Romanian sociologist Dimitrie Gusti.
