This fortress-like monastery nestles in a natural landscape. It was built at the end of the 17C by Prince Mihail Cantacuzino of Muntenia, at the time retreating from the encroaching Ottomans. It has two churches, each located within a courtyard. The larger one (1846 and 1903), Biserica Mare, has a worked cable-moulded façade in the Brancovian style and houses two fine Russian icons. The other, smaller, church (1695) has lovely wall paintings.
