Constantin Brâncusi (1876-1957) left the village where he was born to study cabinetmaking in Craiova, before arriving at Bucharest’s art school in 1898. Resident in Paris from 1925, he returned to his homeland in 1937 to work on his monumental ensemble in Târgu Jiu. A visit to his family home (1862), today a museum, will help visitors better understand the artist’s world and aesthetic philosophy.
