A mausoleum of princes, the church of this monastery has the tomb of Mihaul Viteazul, “first unifier of the country” and revered by Romanians. The church is a fine example of medieval Wallachian architecture (1431), later augmented by a finely carved limestone façade (cable moulding and blind arcading).
