The main route between the Carpathians and Transylvania, this valley is overlooked by Mount Bucegi and Mount Baiului. Popular in summer and winter, it has developed a quality tourist industry. In the valley’s principal town, Câmpina, there is the Nicolae Grigorescu Museum dedicated to the great Romanian artist. During the reign of Carol I at the beginning of the 20C, Sinaia became the court’s resort town, with Peles Castle as the king’s summer residence.
