The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign belongs to an old monastery founded in 1630 on an estate belonging to the Romanov family after it acceded to the throne. This church with five domes andkokoshniki (corbel arches used as a transition between the cylindrical drum and the building) was built between 1679 and 1684. The highly successful recent renovations have given it a unique charm.
