Cathedral of the Annunciation Highly Recommended Highly Recommended Highly Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

The iconostasis of the Cathedral of the Annunciation is a true marvel. That appreciation holds true even if certain works are no longer attributed to Andrei Rublev, the great 15C Russian painter, or to the Byzantine master Theophanes the Greek. The oldest icon dates from 1337. This former private chapel of the tsars, originally connected to their princely palace, contains striking jasper paving. The addition over the centuries of four chapels, six domes and a vaulted ambulatory give this building on Cathedral Square a unique profile.
