This townhouse with a Neoclassical portico was built by Grigoriev between 1817 and 1822 for the Lopukhin family. As with the Alexander Pushkin Museum, the life of Tolstoy is evoked here in a moving and lively way, from the dashing soldier firing away during the Crimean War to the early 20C patriarch with smoky eyes.
