You can recognise Novospassky Monastery by its bell tower, one of the highest in Moscow. The setting, sheltered by powerful walls, is extremely peaceful. Like the many pilgrims who come here, you can file through the little sanctuary of Our Lady of the Sign before the icon of the Romanovs (the monastery is their necropolis). Next to it is the larger (17C) Cathedral of the Transfiguration.
