Kostroma Shopping Arcade stretches out between the square and the Volga, featuring beautiful arches built from 1789 in the early Classical style on the model of the Gostiny Dvor Arcade in St. Petersburg. A dozen buildings of various sizes house the Spice, Fish, Oil, Tobacco and Gingerbread shops. The first building, the Beautiful Arcade, built at the same time as the Great Flour Arcade (122 m x 163 m) had exceptional goods on offer such as furs, shoes and fabrics.
