Gråbrødrekloster Museet : Michelin's recommendations

These ruins were discovered in 1994, when a residential building was being constructed in the city centre – and they turned out to be a Franciscan cloister dating from the 13C. Take the underground passage that leads from the lift and you will come to the central square of the ruins, where the cloister's surrounding walls and outhouses remain. A small museum, consisting of a maquette and period clothes, helps you to imagine life in this community founded in Italy in 1223 by St Francis of Assisi, the first representatives of which arrived in Ålborg around 1250.
