This museum has been housed in a superb building in the heart of the town since 2004. Several levels of mezzanines are distributed around a vast hall lit by a glass roof and reached by a stairway winding around a lift shaft. The collection includes three sections: the Danish Gold Age (1770-1900), with a fine group of works by Wilhelm Hammershoi; Danish Modernism (1990-1960) which shows artists of the Cobra group; the contemporary section presents international art and installations.
