While men were digging the foundations of a bank (Unibank) facing the cathedral, they discovered the remains of an ancient Viking city. Parts of the ramparts have been unearthed, together with various archaeological objects, such as tools. You can also see traces of houses, one of which has been reconstructed. The museum has been installed in the building, specially designed around the finds.
