Behind Amalienborg Palace, beyond Toldbodgade, the quay has been turned into a garden giving onto what used to be the port. Opposite, on Dokøen (Dock Island), the pure lines of the superb Operahaus (Opera House) sparkle in the sun. Designed by architect Henning Larsen, they were inaugurated in early 2005. As you follow the quay, you go past tastefully restored warehouses, many converted into flats.
